Season Two, Ep. 5 "Hopelist"

And now, a gorgeous piece by a Ms. Alli O., who I had the pleasure of meeting in Idaho, along with some other kick ass women writers.  Enjoy her "Hopelist"

Hopelist

I hold this little one in my arms,
Warm and soft and laughing
And I tell her my hopes:
That her tomorrows shine like her eyes
That her hair dances on alpine breeze
That she holds daily dialogue with trees
And that she spends as much time outside as in.
I hope that she tells a good joke
That she appreciates fine whiskey and cheap beer
  That she listens to herself
And that she always chooses hearts over diamonds.
I hope that she lives by the sun
  That she believes in magic
That she sees every stranger as her next best friend
And that she knows unspeakable joy.

If I could fall into yesterday
I'd hold you in my arms,
  Warm and soft and laughing
And I'd tell you my hope:
That this little one lives just like you.

  1. Wow, I thought that was really beautiful. I especially enjoyed the "that she hold daily dialogue with trees" b/c I used to do the exact same thing! And it reminded me of that "I Hope You Dance" song, but this had more specific images and feelings behind it. I think I'm missing more of that; I love the line "she lives by the sun" but I wanted to know exactly where you were talking about (beach, tropics, etc). Your images are fantastic and I just wanted more. Thank you Alli!!!
